Mailweight privacy policy

Effective September 15, 2026

Mailweight works entirely inside your own browser, on your own Gmail tab. It reads a little of what Gmail is showing you so it can do its job, and keeps a few numbers on your computer. It never sends, sells, or shares any of it: nothing Mailweight sees leaves your device.

What Mailweight is

Mailweight is a Chrome extension that finds old and oversized email in Gmail. It runs Gmail searches for you (for example, messages over 10 MB and older than a year), shows how many messages each search matched, and can select them in Gmail so you can review and delete them yourself. Mailweight never deletes anything on its own.

What it reads

Mailweight only runs on mail.google.com, and only reads what Gmail is already showing you in that tab:

It doesn't open your messages, and it doesn't read their contents, attachments, or contacts for any purpose. It doesn't use a Google account token or any Google API.

What it stores

Mailweight saves a few things with Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local), which stays on your computer:

Removing the extension deletes all of this.

What it sends

Nothing. Mailweight has no server, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking, and it makes no network requests of its own. All of its code ships inside the extension; it doesn't load any code from the internet. This website doesn't track you either: no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party fonts or scripts.

Permissions

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If Mailweight ever starts collecting data, this policy and the extension's Chrome Web Store listing will say so before that version is released.
